Capital Shopping Centre (CSC) has appointed FHP and Benoy to assess the needs of retailers as it develops plans for the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre.

CSC is keen to engage with retailers at this stage in the process so that the redevelopment can be designed to suit the needs of future tenants.

Cllr Graham Chapman, Nottingham City Council’s Deputy Leader, says: “The latest developments are very encouraging and I’m pleased that CSC is engaging with retailers. It’s important that the redevelopment complements our existing retail offer whilst meeting the needs of potential tenants.”

CSC purchased the Broadmarsh last year from Westfield. Following the conclusion of an Office of Fair Trading inquiry, CSC is keen to make progress to firm up its proposals for the shopping centre.

CSC has suggested that new designs could be unveiled later this year.

Martin Breeden, Director of Asset Management for CSC, says: “We’ve been a long-standing partner to Nottingham for over 40 years as owner of the Victoria Centre and we’re ambitious for this city. We have already unveiled major plans to invest £240m in the Victoria Centre and are now making progress with proposals for the Broadmarsh Centre.

“The public has always helped shape our plans and we will listen to local views as we develop our proposals for the Broadmarsh Centre. Nottingham is a vibrant city and we will play our part to boost it back up the retail rankings.”
